Media, Information and Disinformation: What impacts on populations?
During this session, participants will learn about media, information, disinformation and their impact on populations. They will understand the research-based reasons why so many people are vulnerable to misinformation. The session leader demonstrates why it is essential for our brains to process and sort tons of information every day in a very short time. In our world today, misinformation is spreading like wildfire, not least because of the ease people have with social media. We also observe that very few people today will intervene to stop the dissemination of false news or confirm its veracity.
