Awareness seminar on the dangers of cybercrime

Broadly speaking, cybercrime can be defined as all illegal activities carried out via the Internet. Many of our young people, adults and especially young girls and women are victims of cybercriminals. According to the RCMP, cybercrime refers to any crime committed primarily using the Internet and information technology, such as computers, tablets or smart phones. Under the general heading of cybercrime, the RCMP divides cybercrimes into two categories: offenses where technology is the target and offenses where technology is the instrument. In this information session, participants will learn how crime can only be committed through computers, networks or digital devices and how the Internet and information technologies play a key role in the perpetration of these crimes. Several examples will be used by the facilitator to help participants.
