A material with particular characteristics, wood has always been used in traditional Africa by sculptors trained with masters.

The course that the GAFFO offers is aimed at people who have never carved wood. They are advised to bring their own tools even if GAFFO could lend them temporarily. The hands-on workshops that participants will be exposed to will focus on the easiest sculpting modes to learn.

The instructor will give them an overview of the different types of carving wood, sharpening, and tools, starting of course with all the basic techniques. At the end of this course, trainees will be able to  create their own wood sculptures with advice and appropriate tools from their Teachers.
