Finding housing for young French-speaking girls and women of immigrant origin is a headache.
Indeed, as many of them do not have stable jobs and a significant income, it is not possible for them to find affordable housing, especially in large Ontario cities like Toronto. A few months ago, we all witnessed a massive emergency housing crisis during the massive arrival of asylum seekers in Toronto. In fact, this housing crisis began in the early 1990s when the federal government completely withdrew from funding new social housing. Our organization, through its volunteers, does everything it can to help young French-speaking immigrant girls and women to help them find housing.
