Introduction to African folk music

Folklore is one of those traditions where the guardians of African memory, i.e. the griots and the old, tell the stories of the sublime deeds of the heroes to the young people for different reasons. These reasons include, among others, the revalorization and commemoration of legends in society. It therefore becomes necessary to remember African folklore in order to avoid the loss of these cultural values. Folklore is therefore an important part of oral tradition. It includes own traditional beliefs. At GAFFO, we offer such courses which encompass our traditions, usages, customs. The folk dances that we offer are not part of so-called “sacred” dances, but dances that are intended for the general public and especially during holidays, such as in summer and even to celebrate multiculturalism.
